Chapter 8     Cool Tools: Here is a convenient list of all the useful free tools you may need to use in your domaining adventures.   whois Whois is a good tool for finding out who owns a domain name (unless its listed as private). It's also good for determining how old a domain name or website is, and which company hosts a domain name or parks it.   estibot With Estibot, you can get a ballpark figure for how much a domain name is worth. It's not extremely accurate, but it can still come in handy sometimes if you just view it as a ballpark figure estimator.   adwords tool With the adwords keyword tool, you can get a good idea for what people search for. Just enter a keyword or phrase, and this tool will show you how many people search for that keyword or phrase each month on the internet. It will also show you "advertiser competition", which is how much that keyword or phrase is advertised by advertisers. Advertiser Competition is usually a good indicator to tell if the keyword or phrase is a good one, because when it has high advertiser competition, that means that if you were to place ads on your website for that domain, those ads would pay well if people clicked on them. It may also be a good indicator to tell if a domain name would sell for a high price or if it's worthhless.   overture Overture Tool is the same thing as the Adwords Tool. Sometimes this website is down. I only use it if the Adwords tool is down.   namebio Name Bio shows many previous domain name sales. This way you can see how much certain domain names sold for.
